Good afternoon,
Our previous IT team poorly managed the Asset management
section of Service Desk Plus. We would like to clean it up and remove some of
the Product Types and Assets that we should no longer be tracking.
Unfortunately, we have run into the error message “____ is being used by a
module. Hence cannot delete it.” when trying to delete Product Types, Products,
and purchase orders. We've tried to drill down and find the module each component is referring to, but having difficulty tracking them down to disassociate the modules. Some modules we have found contain information we do not want to delete as well, such as a purchase order containing an asset we want to retain, as well as an asset we are trying to delete.
What is the process to separate needed and unneeded assets,
and what is the process to disconnect dependencies of the assets such as
connections to tickets and purchase orders?
Is there a simple way to completely delete an asset,
product, or product type even if they have a connection to another module? Or
perhaps a way to determine which modules the component I am deleting is
referring to?
